I grew up believing big goals were out of reach. With perseverance, mentors, and a commitment to learning, I found my calling in engineering and joined NASA.
Across four decades, I focused on human-centered engineering – communications, displays and controls, crew interfaces, and systems integration – always prioritizing the people who operate spacecraft.
My career spanned the Space Shuttle era through the International Space Station and new exploration programs. I supported mission-critical systems with a focus on reliability and crew effectiveness.
I collaborated with talented teams on telemetry, audio, displays and controls, command and data handling, and human-systems integration.
Along the way I championed mentoring and outreach so students could see what’s possible in STEM.
After retiring, I shifted my time to speaking, writing, and mentoring. I help learners and educators turn setbacks into stepping stones.
I partner with schools, universities, and community groups to make STEM approachable and exciting.
My goal is simple – help others build confidence, skills, and curiosity.
Many students feel behind before they even begin. I know that feeling, and I want to change it.
With the right guidance and persistence, students can transform their future. That is the purpose behind my book, talks, and resources.
